19 - NINETEEN Years! 12-28-90 to 12-28-2009

{December 28, 1990 This is your typical 80's early 90's wedding with BIG HAIR, The White Grooms tuxedo, Silver-shiny tuxedos, cummerbund's & Royal Blue Satin bridesmaids dresses, that can never be worn again...}

After 19 years you still make me SMILE, LAUGH & CRY! 19 years of not always wedded bliss, but I would not change places with anyone! I have my best friend by my side for eternity. 19 things I love about Chris:

Christmas Day 2009

You know Chris kept on reminding me,"Iit will come whether we are ready or not." And guess what, it did, and it left just as quickly. I may need all of you to remind me of this each time I get a little too high anxiety for 1 - 24-hour period of time...
Well the morning came and without a glitch , the kids stayed in bed until 8:30 am, a record! The doorbell rang and, Surprise! Grammy and Papa (Gibbons) were here to see Christmas! They had to wait a little bit, cause we were all just getting up. The night before we gave the traditional Christmas Eve PJ's and the this year I outdid myself with the girls, if I do say so myself? I found the greatest Footie Jammie's just like the ones of A Christmas Story (Pink Bunny Footed Jammie's) for Zoey and Alissa and a similar pair for Jocelyn with Sock Monkey's. They were awesome!!!! We did presents, stockings, had amazing Cinnamon French Toast, cleaned up, Went to the Movies, ate Dinner at IHOP (Mom did not want to cook) and we came home to watch "Tim Hawkins," one of the funniest comedians out there, LOOK HIM UP!!! Now we are all retiring to our rooms and YES it ended and no one was maimed, bloodied, arrested or otherwise on Mom's bad list (JK).
This year was a year of service and understanding how fortunate we are to have what we do have and not feel bad for what we don't have. We are very blessed to live in our neighborhood, Extremely blessed to have awesome extended families on both sides. We are blessed to have a business that is is still up and running, A mom who works to help make ends meet through this economy, Obedient Hard Working Children (well after they have been threatened several times, that is) , A countless number of amazing friends and most importantly the knowledge that our Savior was born and died so that we might be able to live with him and our families again someday. With all the craziness & U-turns that life may throw out at us each day, We are so truly grateful for a loving Heavenly Father and Savior.
(I still think we need to skip Christmas next year and celebrate Festivous & The Airing of Grievances....)

Christmas Eve 2009 - Next year Festivous!!!!

Christmas is almost to an end, and I have made an Executive decision, We will skip Christmas Next year and celebrate Festivous, NO TREE, but a POLE and we will all be able to participate in the airing of grievances...... Some days I definitely wonder if it is all worth it, especially when I get the Devil Glare form Little Gibby, need I say more. When life does not go according to his plan he throws a fit and death glares everyone, Mind you, I think he may rethink that idea next time we are at Uncle Ryan's... When the death glare came out, Uncle Ryan put Hunter over his shoulder and took him out back and White washed his face in the snow, (What a riot) I wish I could happily say that the death glare we left outside with the Snow, but it came back in with him, What to do?

Elizabeth Edwards 1915- 2009

The most amazing woman in the world was laid to rest today!
Elizabeth Helen Edwards,
my maternal grandmother, lived to be 94 years old. She outlived her husband and both her children, including my mother. She was probably the most amazing, beautiful, well groomed, happy, charitable, loving, and strong woman I have ever known. I am a better person today for being a part of her posterity and having her in my life.

My brother Keith, and I were able to fly out to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend graveside services for my grandmother at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Although, Gram lived in Mtn. Home Arkansas, we had services in Oklahoma so that her body could be laid to rest with Grandpa. Mind you - we are only 3 days til Christmas and our Families were very selfless in letting us go pay our final respects. The most amazing thing was being able to be representative of the Gospel to our extended family. We are very fortunate to have the understanding that this is only a good-bye for a short period of time and that Gram has had an amazing reunion with her loved ones and that we will be reunited with her again someday. Tulsa, quite a big city, did not know that...

All that December Brings!

RHS DANCE COMPANY CHRISTMAS RECITAL
December 8, 2009
We attended our very first RHS Dance recital with Zoey Dancing. Well needless to say, we think it was awesome. The best thing about the recital is was, that it was only 1 hour long, start to finish! That is very rare in the dancing world. Zoey was able to be in multiple dances, including the infamous Sophomore Superheroes, that won the crowd over. We continue to be amazed by her talents and personality she displays.
ESA (Energy Solutions Arena; aka THE DELTA CENTER)
December 4, 12, & 26th, 2009
I hope my children never complain that we didn't do enough for them... Well As of December 12th I have worked at the ESA or (Delta Center) 4 times, Chris 2 times and Jocelyn 2 times, and for what you say? To help send Stone "Gibby" Gibbons to Cooperstown this summer with his Super league baseball team. Yes this is a fundraising situation for The RATS Baseball team, all the money we would earn if we were to get goes to the boys and their fees for "Cooperstown." It is all for good cause, however, The work "SUCKS". I didn't think so until this last time. Mind you we have 8 volunteers each week and we are all busy setting and cleaning up the stand, it sometimes gets slow during the actual games, dependant on the opponent the JAZZ are playing. Well we had 3 not show the last time and I will tell you, I have total validation why I did not ever work in the fast food industry, mind you I am pretty sure Jocelyn will not be looking into that industry anytime soon either. Only 1 more shift to go Dec 26th and I am absolutely NOT looking forward to it!
2009-2010 JR JAZZ BASKETBALL BEGINS AGAIN
December 12 & 19, 2009
Well here we go, A new season for the Gibbon's boys! ( WE figured out the other day we have been involved with Jr. Jazz Basketball for the last 11 years) Hunter began this season with a new team and a new coach, and was so excited to see 2 of his good friends on the team, Joshua and Taite. So this year is looking up for him! With 2 games done his team is 2-0 What a start! Stone is on the same team he has been the last 3 seasons with Coach Tracy, Coach Burns and yes, his dad. He continues to be a key competitor on the team and loves playing with the neighborhood and ward boys! With 2 games under there belt they are currently 2-0 also.
RHS A'Capella (Choir) Concert
December 12 & 15th, 2009
Well after 4 hours of decorating on a Saturday morning the RHS Auditorium looked liked a Winter Wonderland for the Winter Magic Choir Concert at the High School. Alissa has been singing with the A'Capella Choir at RHS this year. With all the choirs at the school, this one is the largest in number with approx. 150. The others are Men's Choir, Madrigals, Woman's Choir and 1 more I can't remember, but I am impressed with how amazing these kids sound!
New class presidency, AARGH!!!!!
December 13, 2009
Well it is that time again where we needed to make a few changes in the Mia Maid class presidency, so on my knees I began the search for a new president... After coming up with the new class presidents name, she then in turn comes up with the 2 counselors and secretary name. Not knowing what lie ahead of me, Jocelyn was asked to be the 1st counselor and Zoey Gibbons s the 2nd counselor..... OK 1st of all they really don't like me and they really don't like each other most of the time, so this should be a definite test in the Gibbons Girls home...
Annual Neighborhood Food Drive
December 16, 2009
Well being in the Young Women's Program I was given the amazing opportunity, along with my class presidency to head up this year neighborhood food drive. With fliers out to all 153 neighbors in our ward boundaries, and announcements made at church, We were very fortunate to come up with enough food to feed 6 families in our neighborhood for the holidays and beyond. It makes me very proud to live in an amazing area where everyone around is so willing to help, even when they are facing hard times themselves. Charity Never Faileth in the Golden Meadows Neighborhood!
Tiffany Dance Company 2009 Christmas Recital
December 19, 2009
Well the 4th Annual TDC Christmas Dance recital was held on Saturday Dec 19, 209 at the Riverton High School Auditorium. This year we added to our family members performing. We had Hunter doing the new All Boys Hip Hop class and wowed the crowd with his standing back flip... Jocelyn and Zoey are only taking 1 class each at TDC so, they were not going to dance at the Christmas Recital, however Tiffany is awesome! She asked the girls to do an encore presentation of last years Music Box Dancer(Mix hip-hop, ballet & Jazz), after 1 week they tweaked, changed and redid a little and performed! It was fun to watch.

IN-N-OUT in Utah Finally

We are finally up with the times, in UTAH! We have 2 in-n-out's in the Salt Lake Valley! After livng here off and on for 19 years, we have been much anticipating this opening, along with thousands of others. Mind you the Draper, In-n-out opened on Thursday November 19th, and the wait for a hamburger at lunch and rush time was 2 1/2 hours. We drove by on Friday night the 20th and there were only about 150 cars in the drive through, or might I say down the street and around the corners into neigborhoods with workers directing traffic. Luckily for them, they were not in typical Utah Snow storm, however quite Chilly at 29 degrees. So Me and the girls went to see New Moon Sat the 21st and when it was over I was texted by my cute Nephew Chris, that he was at In-n-out and we could cut in line with them.. Mind you we jumped at the opportunity. 20 minutes later we were sitting eating the infamous Cheeseburger that makes me and my girls so happy! So in 1 week we have eatin' at In-n-out 3 times and have not had to travel far or wait 2 hours!!! These are Happy Day's!

Football is OVER :{ Not sure how to feel?

Well Stone's team finished their season today with a real exciting game! The Mity Mite Purple Team ended season play at 6-3 , 4th seed in their division. They played the #1 team today The Brighton Bengals, probably the hardest loss they had up to this point, because it was such a head to head match-up. So the picture show the captains on the field having the coin toss. Stone is #5 with White towel hanging. Another memorable event, the boys were able to play on Cottonwood High School's Astro-turf field.

The boys were just ecstatic and were beaming. At the beginning of the game they other team had a small presentation and news clip for a team mate who is currently going through cancer treatments, this was very touching and meaningful and I do believe it touched all the boys in a positive way! The Silverwolves gave the ailing boy a signed Riverton Jersey as a token of their support in his battle against cancer. Stone ended the season playing Starting QB, Running Back, Corner, Safety, Kicker - He was well utilized and he was voted by his teammates "MOST VALUABLE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR". This made him feel really good, knowing that being Quarterback you either are blamed for the loss or complimented for the win, Its a catch 22 any way you look at it.

(So according to our local statistician, (Dad) Stone finished the year with 14 TD's - 12 Run In - 2 reception TD's - 4 more completed TD passes. What a season, not including the 3 that were called back in different games due to team penalties..)

Way to Go Gibby! Not only a star on the field but Off!

Halloween has definately changed at our house!

Front: (Colton) Back: (Natalie, Sam & Zoey)
This is Zoey (far right) and her friends on Halloween Night along with one of our neighbor boys who wanted to be with all the Jedi's. Chris and I did our normal fire pit in the front yard and handed out our treats, and No Kids.....Alissa worked until 7:30 and hung out with friends, Zoey went Trick-or-treating, at 15, I don't get it, but I have bigger battles to fight than that one. Jocelyn was with some neighbor girls, trick-or-treating, also, and Stone went to Frightmares at Lagoon with his friend. That leaves us with Hunter and he wanted to go trick-or-treating with his friends and left us to rot... Needless to say we had a lot of fun talking with all the neighbors out front hanging out and seeing all the fun trick-or treaters come by!

So many days, so many things to report, sorry it has taken so long to update the blog, but here we go!
October 11th was a big day for Stone, he was ordained to the office of a "Deacon" in the Aaronic Priesthood. What a proud day for all especially Stone and his Dad ! Look Who - is the big 1-2!

Andrew "Stone" Gibbons 7 days old 1997

Stone - 6 months old! 1998

My blue-eyed boys! 1998

He truly is superman, beginning at 1 year old! 1998

Just so Sticking Cute...1999 (clean though)

BFF's forever Chandler Burns and Stone Gibbons (Football Times 2008)

Primary Children's Hospital 9/28/09 EKG we think it is the last!!YEAH

Stone 12 years old! Took the day off from school
and we went to Primary Children's for his EKG and
he passed with flying Colors!

OK I am almost in denial of this day! My 1st born son is now 12 and I can't believe it...He has been counting down the days until his birthday for at least a month. He has a lot of friends in the neighborhood who have birthdays all around each other and he could not wait until his turn. Like on past posts I like to tell a little about each person in our family that celebrates a birthday, and how they have influenced our lives.

Andrew "Stone" Gibbons was born on September 28, 1997. After mom being sent home 2 other times with false labor, he finally came into this world only 9 days early. Mind you, Jocelyn , the last baby that was born in our home was 6 weeks early, so we were very cautious and careful when any labor pains began.....We knew we were having a boy from 17 weeks on, and so a name was the big hurdle - Having 3 older sisters we needed something masculine - So after watching Dateline one evening we decided that a strong boy name would be Stone! Many people who heard his name were a little thrown back at first, but then they all would get used to it and start to love it like we did! Stone is one in a million, he keeps us on our toes as well as everyone he comes in contact with. If it has anything to do with sports, he does it. We make the rounds for each season, Football, Basketball and Baseball. Stone from has amazed us from time to time; AT 1, he had tubes put in his ears and didn't even mind, at 2 he was diagnose d with a stage 4 heart murmur, but it did not slow him down a bit. At 3 he taught himself to ride a 2-wheeler all by himself, At 4, he began his sports career with T-ball, as it goes we are still focused on all seasons and all sports, but Baseball is his first love!

On this Birthday we went to Primary Children's Medical Center to have an Appointment with his Heart Specialist, Ronald Day. He was given a physical and EKG, and after all the tests, they announced he still had a murmur, there was no further leakage from his main valve and that he hoped to never have to see us again. Sad, yet Awesome! Stone has only been to Dr. Day 4 total times, but hopefully there will be no more need to visit him. We continued our day by going to lunch at Chili's and getting him a new suit for his upcoming ordination in our Church. I can't believe he will be a priesthood holder and passing the sacrament, I am so proud of him and the decisions he is already making in his young life. Stone has a way about him that attracts those around him, he makes friends easily and keeps them.
Happy Birthday "Gibby"
I will always be your biggest FAN! Love Mom!

FOOTBALL Update!

SO we have just finished week 3 of the real season for Stone's Purple Mity Mite team. Last week on September 12, 2009 Stone's team played Highland Black and they were able to pull off another victory of 25 to 12. The first half ended at 12 - 12 and the 2 TD"s in the 2nd half were the "Gibby" running them in. He has a little knack about keeping us on our toes.
This week September 19, 2009 we played Brighton at Brighton. Rumors were flying that they had heard we were a really good team, so they were ready for us! With both teams coming head to head with 2-0 each, the game was a rough one. Never the less, We lost the game 14-6, and played really hard. Kudos to the Brighton team, they were tall, big and FAST! They had some great plays in their playbook and we defended them pretty tough. The last 2 games that this team played slaughtered their opponents, so we feel really good about what we did and know we will probably be meeting up with them in the playoffs.

RHS Homecoming 2009

So here we are again, another dance and we are sending off our little girl! Well she looked awesome and so did her date "Jacob" Of course, Dad was a little upset that he had to postpone the watching of the BYU game until after she was picked up, but I am pretty sure he will live!
By the way is September 19, 2009 and 88 degrees outside in Riverton, Utah - does not seem like Football and Homecoming weather But I will never complain about Mr. Winter not coming around yet!!!!

The 1st official Game of Mity Mite Purple!

Just a quick update on Stone's first game, 9-5-09 Riverton Purple vs Jordan Gray (Mity Mite Division 11-12 year olds) Stone at QB & Kicker, 33-0 Win over Jordan. Stone 4 hand off TD's to McCleary, Downs & Guss & 1 Run In TD by himself. Eventful and fun! You can see it in his face that he loves to play when he is on the field.

THE BIG ONE OH! (10)

Hunter 1 month old, Zoey 5 1/2 years old!
C. Hunter Gibbons- 1 Year old!
Hunter in his modeling days- 4 years old!
Hunter getting his long curly head shaved at a football shaving party 9/2008 ( I cried)

The infamous September Birthday Picture ( Every year we celebrate all my boys together) This year it is 10. 12. & 41, but who's counting?

We it finally is here, the day Hunter has been counting down to for almost 2 months. THE BIG "10" Hunter, our baby, has turned double digits, and on Labor Day! ( HE didn't have to go to school, that made him really happy) Being the last of the Gibbons Babies in our home, I still can't believe what a miracle baby this little man is! He came into our home after an eventful pregnancy. Within 17 weeks of being pregnant, we found out that Hunter was not developing quite right and there were masses in his brain, and that more tests would be required. After a decision to forgo further tests we realized it did not matter what problems were ahead of us, we would face them head on and with a positive heart. The next 4 1/2 months were full of ultrasounds, priesthood blessings, a massive facial infection & broken foot for mom, Dad going on the Pioneer trek, and 1 final ultrasound 2 weeks before Hunter's birth, to tell us that the masses in Hunters Brain were all gone! Mind you the older kids still to this day think it is funny to tell Hunter he was supposed to be mentally disabled and tell him he still is, but he is a living miracle in our family and was the finishing ingredient we needed in the Gibbons Household! Happy Birthday Little Gibby, Our lives are much more creative and eventful with you in it!

10 Momentous Memories of Hunter:
  1. Mom & Dad missing his actual 1st B-day (on a cruise)
  2. Being Superman his 2nd Halloween and wearing the costume almost everyday for 2 years (still enjoys dressing up in super hero costumes)
  3. Being noticed in a restaurant at 4 to become a model for Metcalf Agency
  4. Winning 1st runner up in the country as Model of the Year at age 4
  5. Using his imagination in everyday events.
  6. Being Mom's shadow when mom would volunteer in the school with the other kids.
  7. Falling out of a tree 25 feet in the air, getting his 1st ambulance ride, and leaving the hospital without a scratch.
  8. Being known for his long Curly hair, and everyone asking if it was natural? (Yeah, not in the 70's or 80's and perming your kids hair....)
  9. Hunter begging to shave his head with Stone, and mom tearing up at the sight!
  10. Always kissing Mom and Dad goodnight at least 2 times each.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE GIBBY! WE LOVE YOU!

The 1st Week of September 2009

What a busy Week, to keep you all updated The first week of September has been eventful! Chris is working heavily at the store, trying to keep it going in the lovely economy, Alice has spent her mornings working and afternoons running football errands, and 11 hours at the football field on Saturday for the opening game day and making sure that all stations were covered with help. Piano for Jocelyn (only) started again, ( We have had to make some big budget cuts) Zoey is now in full swing with Dance company at 5:30 am practices and had her first performance at the Theme Week Assembly, Alissa is rarely home, due to school and work after school. Stone is still on 6 days a week practices for football, but his first real game was 9/5/09, And Hunter has turned the ripe old age of "10", today on Labor Day!

Are you ready for some football?

OK, this has been a topic of never ending conversation at the Gibbons' house for some time now, As of July 27th Alice has worked non-stop, in all her extra hours, being the Riverton Football Secretary. Sound easy? It's not, and I am pretty sure the family has felt the biggest brunt of it all. But to say that it pays off is an understatement......Stone was drafted by The Riverton Mity Mite Purple team as the Starting QB and Kicker. Stone is in the back field #5 with a White towel hanging from his waist. Well without having to say much, today was an official pre-season game with Alta and look what happened on the 1st play of the scrimmage! We are in awe with what Stone can accomplish in his 4ft 10 in., 73 lb body! At the end of the game he was named offensive player of the game and had scored 2 TD's, had a reception with a gain of 25 yards, and through a TD pass! Now we know not all games are like this, so we wanted to give him Kudo's for being a hard working, never stop kid! Good Job Gibby!

Homecoming here She comes!

So at 10:00 pm on Thursday Evening, we received a knock and door bell ringing on our door, expecting to find one of the neighbor kids, or friends, I went to the door unassuming. However, this is what I found.... Homecoming at Riverton High School is on Sept 19th and guys are on the prowl. So, needless to say, Alissa was still at word at Mulligans Golf, and would not be home for 30 minutes. I called her and told her to get home as soon as she could cause there was something on the doorstep. She was very excited and got home as soon as she could. Mind you by the time 12:00 midnight came we sere still trying to figure out the scrambled letters that were attached to the other end of the strings. Fast Forward to 5:15am, Zoey is getting ready for early morning dance company and Alissa is on the phone with her friend trying to figure this out, when she realizes that she may have dropped a letter on the driveway the night before, so without hesitation we found the letter and Figured out the puzzle and who her homecoming prince charming would be. Thanks Jacob for being so creative, yah thanks a lot, now I have to come up with something creative to answer with...... (Wait i am not going to the dance, Alissa is????)

My Jocey Bossy is "14" !

At 5 1/2 weeks Early Jocelyn Marie Gibbons came into this world early, quick and noisy. I had a feeling she would come early, so I had the Dr. check me at 6 weeks early, because he was leaving for Lake Powell the next day on vacation. Needless to say, he thought everything was great and that I did not have to worry about Jocelyn making an early entrance into our family. Well 3 days later I went into labor and knew, that she was on the way. We rushed up to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City (Seeing as Zoey was born 45 minutes after we entered the hospital) cause Chris did not want to deliver a baby in the car. Within in 2 1/2 hours my Jocelyn was born on my Dad's 56th Birthday. August 6, 2009 11:33 am 5 lbs 10 oz and 18 1/2 inches. She was not a real healthy little girl, but was taken care of very well in the LDS-NICU Within the week we were able to bring home our 4 lb 12 oz baby girl, to be the 3rd Gibbons Girl, to join the family. The hospital was not worried about the weight loss and felt she was on the mend. Needless to say after 10 1/2 months of her throwing up all her food, she has grown to be an amazing, healthy and beautiful girl. I am so proud of the good friend she is and the great example she is, the talents she shares with everyone and for her love of the Savior!
She is one of my greatest blessings in this world!
